“Hey you! No, I’m not gonna go away.”

I love music. It inspires, causes a person to reflect, creates a desired vibe and gives many people something to relate to in an otherwise disconnected world.

Driving along listening to The Offspring (as one does), I suddenly honed in on the words to ‘Secrets from the Underground’ (from their CD ‘Days Go By’). Try to find the song if you can and have a listen – simply copy-pasting the lyrics here won’t do it any justice. Having a somewhat rebellious nature, and considering the life changes that have occurred recently, it really made me think. No, I’m not going to go away. I will be heard. Things need to change in the world because people will rise up – it might not be anytime soon, or happen en masse, but a further shift is coming.

Look at the number of people who are leaving corporate chaos for a quieter life, or who are gravitating towards the arts (creative, martial, even the occult, to name but a few) as a survival tactic. Human beings can’t go on as we have been, especially in recent years. I don’t claim to be polymathic in any way, however I do have the confidence to say that what I am writing is true. Just take a look around you – you can’t deny it.

I listen to quite a selection of music. My reason for mentioning this is that I want to refer you to another song, ‘Land of Confusion’ by Disturbed (from their CD ‘Ten Thousand Fists’). Take a listen to that as well, if you can. It’s heavy metal, and not to everyone’s tastes, but you need to hear the words. I’d also like to refer you to Nickelback’s ‘When We Stand Together’ – the words are poignant, to say the least. Then we have Seether’s ‘Here and Now’ and ‘Tonight’ (from their album ‘Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray’). I think these songs are quite indicative of the times. There are many more, however these songs are the ones that have struck a chord and remain fixed in my memory.

We need to take stock of where we have been/ come from, where we are now, and where we want to go. As individuals, as a people (in this I mean inclusively – all races, religions, factions, tribes and communities), as a tiny part of the ‘multiverse’.

I will keep on writing, hopefully motivate and inspire others, and continue working on myself as a human being in order to “be the change I want to see”. I hope you will too.
